SURFACE PREPARATION

Osmo Intensive Cleaner can strip away Osmo hard wax oils like Polyx Oil, therefore use carefully. Treated surfaces cleaned with Osmo Intensive cleaner usually require topping-up with products such as Osmo Maintenance Oil or Osmo Polyx Oil. The product must be diluted with water, and the level of dilution will depend on the amount of soiling, or the type of renovation works being carried out.

If the existing hard wax oil surface is only partially worn, yet requires refreshing with Osmo Maintenance Oil then use a very light concentrate of Osmo Intensive Cleaner. For this purpose, we recommend a dilution of approx. 1 part product to 20 parts water typically. For heavily soiled and depleted surfaces requiring a top-up with Osmo Polyx Oil, a stronger dilution will be required. Avoid concentrations higher than 1 part product to 10 parts water as staining could occur. Carrying out discrete trials first is highly recommended. Before using Osmo Intensive Cleaner, always wear appropriate personal protection ( goggles and gloves). Protect sensitive surfaces from contact with Osmo Intensive cleaner( eg: painted surfaces, stone and metal etc).

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Begin by removing loose debris from the surface with either the Osmo Dust Mop, firm brush or vacuum cleaner. Dilute Osmo Intensive cleaner with water accordingly, then apply to the surface evenly with a paint bush. Leave the surface wetted for 3-4 minutes, allowing the product to dissolve the hard wax oil coating. Facilitate cleaning by using either a red or green nylon scotch pad by hand for a further 2-3 minutes. Larger areas can be processed using the Osmo Floor X Centre machine with either the brush ring, red or green pad attachments. Damp rinse ( do not saturate) the product away with clean water and a flat mop, eg: Osmo Micro-Mop Plush attachment. Adjust the dilution if necessary. Please work in small, controllable areas at a time and avoid cleaning areas that cannot be fully processed within 10 minutes typically.

Once rinsed, allow the surface to fully dry. This could take 24-48 hours. Cooler temperatures and higher humidity levels will delay drying. Ensure there is plenty of ventilation. Once dry, apply the appropriate Osmo Maintenance Oil or Polyx oil accordingly. Always trial apply first.

Surfaces that have been topped up with Osmo hard wax oils should repel dirt and water effectively once fully cured.

NOTE

Do not use undiluted. Osmo Intensive Cleaner may lead to discolorations or surface changes on unfamiliar sub-surfaces. Woods rich in extractives (in particular Oak) discolour when coming in contact with undiluted Intensive Cleaner. Even when diluted, always carry out a trial application. Avoid allowing the solution to dry.
Osmo Intensive Cleaner is not suitable for daily cleaning and maintenance.
