Surface Preparation:
- Ensure bare wood species with natural wood extractives weather off (min. 4 weeks) before the initial treatment or clean with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (degreaser).
- Resinous wood like Larch or Douglas Fir should weather off for at least 6 weeks to improve absorbency.
- Pressure impregnated wood and tropical species require a minimum of 3 months of weathering.
- Cedar needs a 3-month weathering period for better absorbency.
- Refresh greyed and weathered wood with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel before applying Osmo Decking Oils.
- Avoid using jet/power washers as they can affect coverage.
- Wood surface must be clean, dry, and frost-free (moisture content max. 20%).
- Osmo Decking-Oil is ready to use, do not thin.
Method of Application:
- Use a stiff brush (Osmo Flat Brush) or a lint-free cloth and apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain on clean, dry wood.
- For a quick application, consider the Osmo Decking Brush (150 mm).
- Allow for good ventilation while drying, and apply the second coat once the first is dry.
- For UV protection, apply a clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 as the second coat for darker shades.
