Description
British made, smooth black escutcheon from Kirkpatrick, manufactured in a traditional English ironfoundry.
An escutcheon is used as a keyhole cover; it is the plate fitted to cover the keyhole, to give a decorative finish.
These smooth black escutcheons are traditionally made here in the UK and finished by hand, with a two coat, protective finish.
Kirkpatrick’s long tradition of manufacturing means that they have a style and authenticity which is lacking in the cheap imitations which are available. Their workforce is skilled in the traditional methods of production, which have not changed in essence over the last 156 years. Although it is possible to find many similar products available both in the UK and worldwide, the essential difference is that their cast products are whiteheart malleable iron, which is particularly durable and well suited to the manufacture of architectural ironmongery.

Despite our use of traditional methods we are a forward looking Company. We have invested considerable sums in a new electric melting facility which produces a much more consistent quality of iron. This facility has also gone some way to helping us meet the environmental standards demanded by current UK legislation. Although our products are traditional in look and feel we are always looking to develop our product range to meet current trends and legislation. Our range of locking fasteners and levers which operate three point locking systems are testimony to this.
