Barrettine Premier Universal Preservative Wood Treatment is a high-quality, low-odour, spirit-based, clear wood treatment suitable for both new and existing internal and external timber. It's an excellent choice for various applications, including sheds, fences, and summerhouses. However, if used internally, it is only suitable for unoccupied areas, such as structural floor joists.

It also acts as a guard against future infestations.

• Primer-Like: Think of it as a primer; it's not meant as a final finish for external timber. Once dry, it's advisable to apply a stain, oil, paint, or varnish to external timber. Importantly, it is wax-free, allowing it to be used in conjunction with water-based paints or exterior varnishes.

Application: Applying this treatment is straightforward. For new bare wood, minimal preparation is needed. However, for surface degreasing, White Spirit can be used if necessary. Don't forget to treat any bare end grain, as it's a common entry point for moisture. Older timber should have any previous coatings removed, either through sanding or paint remover. After sanding, remove the dust with White Spirit or Methylated Spirit.

Apply to dry wood using a brush, ideally in temperatures between 10-30°C. Avoid application if rain is expected. Typically, 2-3 coats will be necessary, depending on the wood species and surface condition. Allow 6-12 hours between coats, and remember to clean tools immediately after use with White Spirit.
